I am an artist from Clonmel, Tipperary, living in Waterford, Ireland.
I am the co-founder of Nocht Studio with Martin McGloin.
Nocht has been selected as the only Irish artist for the current intake of Creative Europe's IN SITU Platform 2025-2028. IN SITU is the European platform for artistic creation in public space. It is led by Lieux Publics, European and National Centre for Artistic Creation in Public Space, located in Marseille (FR).
Nocht are partnering with Greywood Arts and Glenbower Wood and Lake Committee on "Seeing the Wood for the Trees", a three year place-making initiative focusing on the community-stewarded, Glenbower Wood. Through a multi-year pavilion project addressing invasive species and shorter collaborative interventions, the initiative promotes environmental stewardship and community cohesion by integrating art, biodiversity, and heritage to deepen connections between people and place. "Seeing the Wood for the Trees" is funded by the Arts Council of Ireland's Arts Grant programme and Creative Ireland's Creative Communities Programme with Cork County Council.
I am a recent recipient of an Arts Participation Project Award 2025 from the Arts Council of Ireland for "this/OUR", a collaboration between artists Basil Al-Rawi, Chris Finnegan, Katie Nolan and myself. Developed in partnership with Greywood Arts, "This/OUR" is a transdisciplinary deep mapping exercise with the Killeagh and East Cork community, focusing on the human and more-than-human. By collaborating with a cohort of contemporary historians, experts in citizen science and ecology, and the local community, "This/OUR" aspires to challenge concepts of knowledge generation and archival methods through the medium of mapping. The project centres on Glenbower Wood and looks outwards to the broader landscape through the Dissour River.
I am a recipient of the Artist in the Community Artist Mentoring Award 2024, awarded by Create Ireland and funded by the Arts Council of Ireland, and I am under the mentorship of artist, John Conway.
I was a recipient of an Artist in the Community Scheme Research and Development Grant 2024, awarded by Create Ireland and funded by the Arts Council of Ireland, where I collaborated with Glenbower Wood and Lake Committee in Killeagh, Co. Cork. The project explored the potential for developing a rejuvenated collective vision for the community owned Glenbower Wood through collaborative and socially engaged art practices under the mentorship of artist, Seán Taylor.
I am a Creative Partner for the Síolta Glasa project, a Citizen Innovation Lab collaboration between Limerick City and County Council, University of Limerick, Mary Immaculate College, Ballyhoura Development, Fab Lab Limerick and mentors Javier Buron Garcia and Dr. Veronica Santorum. The Síolta Glasa project supports community-creative partnerships to build capacity around decarbonisation in Limerick city and county and will runs from June 2024 to October 2025. I am partnered with West Limerick Resources Limited where we are collectively exploring issues around the concept of "repair.". The project is currently examining barriers to, and opportunities for, adopting circular economy principles not only within the services and initiatives WLR provide but also identifying the knowledge, resources and skills within the communities of West Limerick itself.
I am a recipient of an Agility Award 2024 from the Arts Council of Ireland where I am working with New York based artist, Risa Puno, on developing methodologies for immersive, interactive, multi-sensory experiences within my art practice and more specifically, the "Random" project.
I collaborated with Greywood Arts Youth Club to develop "Radio Silence", an analogue horror for Spacefest 24, held at the National Space Centre, Cork, Ireland.
I am a professional member of Visual Artists Ireland, Mór Artists Collective and ArtLinks.
I am also a member of the Haumea Ecoversity Community, the Deep Transformation Network and Project Tipping Point by (re)Biz.
I completed the 'Commissioning and Curating Contemporary Public Art' masters level professional development course by HDK-Valand Academy of Art and Design at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden in 2024.
I graduated from the Dublin School of Architecture with first class honours in 2013 and have worked in the architecture and design industry in Ireland, the UK and New Zealand.
My thesis, "The Mystification of the Architectural Method: A Public House in Temple Bar", was developed in collaboration with Mark Pringle and was nominated for the Silver Medal of the Royal Institute of British Architects, was the winner of the 2013 Coillte Third Level Student Wood Awards in the architecture category. The project challenged traditional architectural practice by calling for a more participatory and transdisciplinary approach through the blending of design for disassembly principles with civic engagement.
My student work was featured in the Describing Architecture 2013 exhibition, and published in Architects' Journal UK, where I was listed as a "Standout Student" of the Dublin School of Architecture in 2012-2013 & 2011-2012, Architecture Ireland and Plan Magazine. I was also the editor of 'Ailtireacht: Architecture Students' Journal' in 2010-2011.
I have been involved in public-based workshops in Ireland with Greywood Arts, Commonage: Callan, the Irish Architecture Foundation, Open House Dublin, South Dublin County Council, and the National Learning Network.
